It is time once again for Mary and I to lead a team back to Lulwanda Children's Home in Mbale, Uganda. It has been our pleasure and love to lead the last 3 teams. I cannot believe that this will be my 7th trip to Uganda. I had no idea what God had in store for me back in 2006 when I traveled with that "crazy" group of women to Lulwanda Children's Home.
Our trip this year is July 1-14. Our team will consist of 13 people from 4 different churches and towns. From Beaumont, Tx, Houston, Tx., San Marcos, Tx., and Monahans, Tx. Of the 13, only 3 will this be their first trip to Uganda. Our focus once again this year will be to take training and materials to the teachers at Lulwanda Primary School. But this year we will be hosting a 4 day Teacher Training consisting of 3 workshop tracks presented by 3 of our wonderful team members. We have invited 30 teachers from surrounding Gov't schools to attend and we are excited about this new relationship with other teachers and schools. While the teachers are involved in training, the rest of the team will teach the children during the morning. Our afternoons are going to be awesome!! The girls will get to bake and learn to sew some simple items, and the boys will build and participate in the first Lulwanda Pinewood Derby. It is going to be a blast.
We hope to update this blog daily with pictures and information about our day. Hopefully the internet connections have improved. We hope you will keep up with our blog and keep us in your prayers while we are gone.
